When Fashion Meets the Sea
This past season, we had the pleasure of welcoming a very stylish crew aboard the tall ship Duen — the creative team behind Canadian fashion retailer Simons, here to shoot their new “Sailing Vacation lookbook” for the Twik collection. Set against the timeless lines of Duen’s wooden hull and the backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, this photoshoot was a beautiful fusion of fashion and tradition. Watching the Simons team bring their youthful, maritime-inspired collection to life on our decks was nothing short of magical.
A Classic Ship for a Contemporary Collection
Built in the age of craftsmanship and adventure, Duen offers an atmosphere that’s hard to replicate — hand-hewn woodwork, sweeping canvas sails, and the scent of salt in the air. It’s an ideal setting for stories that span generations, and the Simons team tapped into that energy perfectly. The Twik collection plays with nautical themes — breezy stripes, relaxed silhouettes, and summery textures — all echoing the spirit of travel and discovery. Against Duen’s classic rigging and natural tones, every frame of the shoot told a story of freedom, youth, and the call of the coast.
A Collaboration Rooted in Experience

It was a delight to see how seamlessly the fashion world stepped aboard and found inspiration in the wind and waves we sail every day. The photo shoot came about from a referral of one of our guests who passed on the message that our lovely old ship would be the perfect setting for a fashion show. The Simons crew was an absolute joy to host: professional, curious, and full of appreciation for what makes Duen special.
